2006 Architectural Engineering Conference
The 2006 Architectural Engineering Conference, to be held March 29-April 1, 2006 in Omaha, Nebraska, will exhibit the extensive reach of the architectural engineering field with a special emphasis on the integration of building solutions. The conference entitled Building Integration Solutions aims to provide a balance between academic research topics and professional practical solutions. The conference will feature 31 sessions and 6 free workshops on topics including: building envelope, curtain walls, codes and standards, structural design of building for serviceability, building sustainability, noise and vibration control, building security, facilities management and more. The sessions include direct input from other organizations such as NIBS, ASHRAE and BSC. The six workshops provide a direct hands-on education to participants, and aim to cover many of the current topics that are of importance to architectural engineering professionals and educators.
Student Essay Contest Extended
We are please to announce that the deadline for the student essay contest to take place at the 2006 AEI Conference has been extended and additional prizes have been added. There are now three awards consisting of $500, $300, and $100 for the authors of first, second and third place respectively. The new deadline for the submission of papers is March 1, 2006.

The National Center for Preservation Technology and Training (NCPTT) is holding a summer program entitled Engineering the Past for the Future: A Practical Approach to Engineering for Older and Historic Buildings.
